Today in History: July 25, 2009 » Redding Record Searchlight: "Frank Shoffner applied for a building permit for repairs and the addition of a deck to his cabin near Hirz Bay on Lake Shasta. The application was filed after the work had begun and after the Shasta County Building Department received an anonymous complaint. Shoffner's Green Pastures Group Home in Palo Cedro was the recent subject of a county grand jury report. That report revealed that a number of buildings at the facility had been constructed without building permits."
